155th AUCTION AT THE HOSPICES DE BEAUNE : AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE!

That was how Phoenix Wine Club members described their participation in this year’s edition of this famous event. Each year the Hospices de Beaune is held during the third weekend of November. This programme arranged by the Club was particularly tempting: tasting of the 2015 vintage of Hospices de Beaune’s own wines directly from oak barrels in the cellars of the Hôtel Dieux, lunch in Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy, discovering the Route des Grands Crus (Burgundy’s ‘Champs Elysée’) – all this among the numerous festivities organized for the occasion.

Back at the Club headquarters, the Château de Saint Germain, in the cosy ambience of the cellar, members tasted en avant première the the new range of wines to be presented in Japan in 2016, with commentary by Club Director Antoine Roméro. Then Bob and Yuko Harris welcomed members to their tables for a dinner composed of regional specialities. Gastronomy, culture and history were thus combined during these three days of the Hospices, which are part of the heritage of Burgundy.
